Compilations
A compilation is a group configured to play ordered videos or video ranges back to back. It provides collection-level playback without requiring the source items to be merged into one file.
Composition
Section titled “Composition”Compilation items can refer to complete videos or bounded video ranges. Their group order defines playback order, while optional item titles and notes provide compilation-specific context. The underlying videos retain their own metadata, files, and identity.
A range item is not automatically a sub-video. It can play part of a video only within the compilation, while a sub-video is a reusable child record throughout the library.
Metadata and visibility
Section titled “Metadata and visibility”The containing group can have its own title, artwork, date, studio, tags, synopsis, and other group metadata. A visibility setting controls whether compatible video results may include the compilation; filters and permissions still determine what a user can see.
Lifecycle
Section titled “Lifecycle”Reordering or removing an item changes the compilation, not the referenced media. Deleting a compilation does not inherently delete its member records or source files. Dynamic resolution can produce group membership, but durable playback order should be reviewed when the source query changes.
