Owner

The owner is the initial administrative account with authority to configure a Cove instance and delegate access. Ownership is an instance-level relationship, not simply the name of a broad role.

The owner can perform bootstrap and administrative operations needed to establish users, roles, providers, extensions, storage, and instance settings. Exact controls still depend on the running version and deployment configuration.

Because ownership can bypass or exceed ordinary delegated access, use the account for administration rather than routine integrations. Create separate users and scoped tokens for services and recurring automation.

Protect owner credentials and recovery material as instance-critical secrets. Before changing or removing owner access, verify that another supported recovery or ownership path exists. A role assignment that resembles administrative access is not automatically a replacement for bootstrap ownership semantics.

Owner actions remain subject to filesystem, network, and operating-system boundaries. Application authority cannot make a read-only mount writable or restore unavailable source media.
