Media
Media is the family of primary content records Cove manages: videos, images, galleries, audio, and text. A media record is distinct from any file that supplies its content.
Shared model
Section titled “Shared model”Media records have their own identity, created and updated timestamps, descriptive metadata, and relationships. Depending on type, a record can relate to tags, performers, studios, groups, URLs, remote provider identifiers, custom fields, files, and generated assets.
Common capabilities include browsing, text search, filtering, sorting, metadata editing, organization, and extension-contributed actions. The exact fields and controls vary by media type, permissions, installed extensions, and configured services.
Records and files
Section titled “Records and files”A record can outlive an unavailable file, and some workflows create a record before media is downloaded. Some records resolve content indirectly: galleries group images, and sub-videos play a range from a parent video. Deleting a record does not inherently mean deleting every related file; destructive file operations are explicit and require writable storage.
Metadata and engagement
Section titled “Metadata and engagement”Shared descriptive metadata belongs to the media record. User-specific ratings, favorites, playback state, and similar engagement can be stored separately so different users can have different state for the same item.
