Dynamic groups

Dynamic groups give changing query results a library identity. Use them when other records or workflows must refer to a collection whose membership should be resolved again as the library changes.

Decide whether you need a group

Use a saved filter when only you need to revisit a search or filter view. Use a static group when you want to choose and order members directly. Use a dynamic group when the collection needs its own metadata or relationships but membership should continue to follow a query.

Treat membership as current state

A dynamic result is not a historical snapshot. New matches can enter, old matches can leave, and resolver or query changes can alter the result. If an exact set must remain stable, curate a static group or materialize the result through a workflow designed for snapshots.
