Tags
A tag is a reusable metadata record applied to library entities to describe, classify, or filter them. Reusing one tag preserves a stable identity across records; free-text descriptions do not create that relationship.
Record model
Section titled “Record model”A tag has a name and can have a description, aliases, parent relationships, a tag group or category, URLs, remote IDs, imagery, and provenance. Aliases improve matching without becoming separate tags. Parent relationships express a vocabulary hierarchy; they do not automatically make every parent an explicit tag on tagged media.
Applications
Section titled “Applications”Ordinary relationships tag an entire video, image, gallery, audio item, text document, group, performer, or studio where supported. Contextual tag applications can instead describe an occurrence—such as a performer within a video—or a host range. A raw segment can also point to a tag while preserving its own timing and source.
Identity and lifecycle
Section titled “Identity and lifecycle”Renaming a tag keeps its relationships because records refer to tag identity, not display text. Merging or deleting a tag can affect many library records and should be reviewed as a vocabulary change. Provider remote IDs help reconnect imported metadata to the same external concept.
